Three members of the Federal Executive Council are currently indisposed, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Babachir Lawal, revealed on Wednesday.
Aside President Muhammadu Buhari, who traveled to London on Monday in commencement of his 10-days’ vacation during which he would also see Ear, Nose and Throat specialists for a persistent ear infection, majority of Nigerians were in the dark as to the health condition of the FEC members until today.
Lawal, who made the disclosure while saying the opening prayer at the beginning of a FEC meeting presided over by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, mentioned the indisposed ministers as Aisha Alhassan (Women Affairs), Adamu Adamu (Education) and Ibrahim Jibril (Minister of State for Environment).
The SGF in his prayer, which came shortly after Osinbajo directed the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, to offer Islamic prayer, asked God to be with President Buhari, who he said was on “medical vacation”.
He then proceeded to ask God to also heal the aforementioned ministers, starting with Alhassan, who he said “is recuperating in US after a surgery” and Adamu, who he said “is down with back pain”.
It was not until he concluded his prayer that the SGF was reminded that he did not ask God to heal Jibril.
Mr. Lawal quickly added Jibril’s name to his list of sick cabinet members but failed to disclose the nature of the junior minister’s ailment.
