BREAKING NEWS: Court Remands Ex-Interior Minister, Moro In Kuje Prisons

Abba Moro

A federal high court sitting in Abuja has ordered the remand of immediate past Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, in Kuje prison, Abuja.

The former minister was arraigned on Monday before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on an 11-count charge bordering on alleged fraud and money laundering.

Mr. Moro was arraigned alongside a former Permanent Secretary in the Interior Ministry, Anastasia Nwaobia; F.O Alayebami and Drexel Global Tech Ltd for allegedly collecting N678.6 million from 676,675 job seekers in the ill-fated Nigerian Immigration Service recruitment exercise in which no fewer than 16 applicants lost their lives and many more injured across the various recruitment centres in 2014.

Justice Anwuli Chikere, who ordered that the former minister be remanded, adjourned the case to Wednesday, March 2 for hearing of the bail application.

Justice Chikere, however, granted Mrs. Nwaobia administrative bail.
