At least 129 people were killed and 350 others wounded in different coordinated attacks in the French capital on Friday evening. Six of the attackers died in suicide explosive attacks while the last was shot dead.

Authorities said on Sunday that Omar Ismail Mostefai, a 29-year-old French citizen of Algerian origin, was one of the attackers. His detached finger was found at the Bataclan concert hall, the scene of the deadliest attack. Six people close to him were reportedly arrested on Saturday morning as investigations continue into the attacks.

Mr. Mostefai is believed to have been known to French authorities for alleged links to armed groups.

Although ISIS, the armed group that has killed thousands in Iraq and Syria while occupying vast territory, has reportedly claimed responsibility for the Paris attacks, it did not reveal the names of the attackers.

In relation to the attacks, arrests have been made in several European countries including Belgium, Germany, and Greece. Al-Jazeera reports that Greek authorities have confirmed that one of the men who died with a Syrian passport next to him had registered as a refugee on Leros island, Greece, in October.

The Paris attacks have been condemned by world leaders with President Muhammadu Buhari condemning the attack and calling on “all peace-loving nations of the world to intensify ongoing multilateral cooperation and collaborative actions aimed at bringing the scourge of international terrorism to a speedy end for the benefit of all nations.”
