Nick Kyrgios Powers Past Milos Raonic into Wimbledon Last 16

There was not to be another repeat of 2014 last-eight win for Milos Raonic, as big-hitting Nick Kyrgios battled back to eliminate the Canadian at Wimbledon on Day 5.

The Australian fired 34 aces and 61 winners en route to closing out a 5-7 7-5 7-6(3) 6-3 win on another sunny day in Court Two.

“I don’t fear anyone,” said the 26th seed. “Whoever I play I will just play aggressively and just keep that mind set.”

Kyrgios will play 21st seed Richard Gasquet in the last 16.

Raonic, who had won their previous two meetings, clearly came into Friday’s clash brimming with confidence, with Kyrgios double-faulting three times to hand off the opening set.

The 20-year-old faced break point midway through the second set, but- dominating serves- kept in contention, breaking Raonic to draw level in the fifth game before serving it out with three aces.

The third set went with serve until Kyrgios snatched initiative in the tie-break, claiming half-a-dozen of points in a row and then took the set with his second serve ace.

Raonic, now struggling with serves in the fourth set, was broken in the eighth game, after which Kyrgios held serves to finish off the tie.
