Nigeria to Play Burkina Faso in CHAN 2016 Qualifier

Nigeria will face Burkina Faso in a qualification match for next year’s African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The draws for the Fifa-approved continental tournament meant for players in the domestic league was conducted on Sunday.

Nigeria, Ghana and Niger were seeded in Zone West B, while Burkina Faso, Togo and Cote d’Ivoire were unseeded in the same pool.

Nigeria’s ‘B’ internationals will host Burkina Faso in the weekend of October 16, 17 and 18, with the return leg slated for a week later in Burkina Faso.

The home-based Super Eagles debuted at the 2014 CHAN in South Africa, which was won by Libya. They were eliminated by neighbours Ghana in the semi-finals but went on to defeat Zimbabwe in the classification match.

The 2016 finals is billed for Rwanda, starting from 16 January through to 7 February.
