Babangida Returns To Nigeria After Medical Treatment In Germany

Former military ruler, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (rtd), has returned to Nigeria after being away for medical treatment at a German Hospital in the last two months.

Babangida expressed his appreciation to everyone who stood by him while he was receiving treatment in Europe, saying that everyone around him was missed.

“When I rest, then we shall talk more with my friends about current issues as we usually do. But for now, let me rest,” the former president said.

Babangida was received by the Minister of Defence, Aliyu Gusau and close family members.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that Babangida was welcomed back home at his hilltop residence by his grandchildren.

AVM Hamza Abdullahi, Gen. Halilu Hakilu, Col. Habibu Shuaibu and former Chairman of Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (PAN), Umaru Ndanusa were also among dignitaries that welcomed Babangida.

The 73-year-old former military ruler had in September left the country for unknown health issues, which some sources later confirmed to be a recurring back problem. He was said to have gone to Germany for surgery to alleviate the problem.
