Tony Pulis has stepped down from his position as Crystal Palace manager barely 48 hours before the side’s opening Premier League fixture away at Arsenal.
Pulis, quits ‘The Eagles’ by mutual consent less than nine months after succeeding Ian Holloway.
His assistant Keith Millen is expected to occupy the vacant managerial position, in a caretaker capacity until further notice.
The Selhurst Park outfit will issue a statement on Friday to address the resignation before holding an afternoon press conference.
Disagreements over transfer policy is believed to have prompted the 56-year-old’s exit from the position he assumed last November. Pulis had reportedly been left frustrated by the club failing to push through deals for various players he targeted to strengthen the Palace squad.
He and co-chairman Steve Parish held talks to discuss transfer issues on Thursday afternoon, only to suddenly back down from preparing his team for Saturday.
The Welsh manager was named the League Managers Association’s Premier League manager of the year in May, after guiding Palace- a team he inherited in a precarious position on the league standings- to an 11th place finish last season.
