Costa Back In Training, Named In Atletico Squad for Lisbon

Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa is back in training after undergoing horse-placenta treatment on a hamstring tear as he bids to be available for Saturday’s Champions League final against Real Madrid.

Costa, 25, suffered the injury during coach Diego Simeone’s side’s final Spanish League match against Barcelona last weekend.

The title-decider ended 1-1 in favour of the Los Roji Blancos, who went on to lift the La Liga title at the expense of their opponents.

Costa was treated in Belgrade by a doctor, who specialises in using horse placenta on hamstring injuries.

Both Costa, who has scored 36 goals this season, and Turkish midfielder Arda Turan, who injured a hip during the season finale, trained on Thursday and will fly to Lisbon with the rest of the squad for the final.

Atletico are attempting to win their first European Cup. They reached the final in 1974 but lost to Bayern Munich 4-0 in a replay after the first match finished 1-1.

Saturday’s All-Madrid final is the first European Cup final with two teams from the same city. It will also be the fifth meeting between the two neighbours this season.

Real won 5-0 on aggregate in the Spanish Cup, while Atletico claimed victories in both legs of their league meetings.
