Abuja Bomb Blast: Tambuwal Visits Survivors In Hospitals, Offers To Donate Blood

aminu-waziri-tambuwal1The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, on Tuesday volunteered to donate blood to victims of Monday’s ‎bomb attack, which claimed over 71 lives in Nyanya, a suburb of Abuja in the Federal Capital Territory.

He also enjoined other Nigerians to donate blood to the victims as a humanitarian gesture of saving lives.

There were calls shortly after the blast for people to donate blood for no fewer than 124 victims, who sustained various degrees of burns and wounds.

Tambuwal made this known when he visited some of the survivors of the explosion in hospitals to commiserate with them.

The hospitals he visited include Nyanya General Hospital and the National Hospital.

Tambuwal said, “I will go to the National Blood Transfusion Centre and donate some blood for the victims. I call on well-meaning Nigerians, who have the capacity to donate blood to please come out and donate blood and whatever is required for the survival of the victims”.

Tambuwal expressed dismay that the issue of insecurity was being politicised by Nigerians in spite of the many lives and property lost too often.

The Speaker called on leaders at all levels of government to take the issue of insecurity seriously.

Tambuwal spoke further, “‎We must all come together and support the government in addressing this challenge.

“We should stop playing politics with the issue of insecurity.

“From what I have seen among the victims, I doubt if they are members of any political party. We should stop playing politics, we should address the issue and it is not about any religion.

“It is unfortunate. We must come together. We must rise to the challenge and address this challenge”.
