Four Southwest governors on Tuesday met behind closed-doors with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting which spanned over one hour was attended by governors Babatunde Fashola (Lagos), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti) and Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun).

Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko and his Oyo State counterpart, Senator Abiola Ajimobi were however absent.

Although none of the four governors spoke to state house correspondents after the meeting ended around 5:36 P.M., it was learnt that it might not be unconnected with the forth-coming National Conference and some development projects in the zone.

Fayemi said: “We came to see the President and it is in connection with issues of national importance. It is for the development of the Southwest.”

Amosun said: “That is why it is called a private meeting”.

Fashola said: “We came to see the President” stressing that “It was a private meeting if there is need for you to know, the Presidential media aide will brief”.
