A top official of the Akure Zonal Office of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, 59-year-old Mr. Boma Benibo, who was alleged to have defiled a seven-year old girl has been released by the Ondo State Police Command.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Wole Ogodo, Benibo’s release was sequel to the medical report which exonerated him of the allegation.

Ogodo told newsmen in Akure that the suspect had to be released from police detention following the medical report from the Police Medical services.

According to him the police cannot continue to detain the suspect when the medical report has laid to rest that the allegation against him was false.

A copy of the report signed by Dr E. O. Adewale made available said that the victim in question Tomide Babadipe was not defiled as alleged by her parents.

The girl, on interrogation by the police had said the man just fiddled with her private part and did not penetrate her, but the parents insisted on the contrary, prompting medical tests by the police.

“The police is trying to take her to the hospital so that a proper medical examination will be done to determine the fact of the matter,” Ogodo had said.

The medical report says “the above named child was brought into this faculty on 16th December 2013 with complaints of sexual assault meted on her by a neighbour on Dec 10th 2013.

“Examination revealed a young girl with normal female external genitalia, intact hymen at the introitus. There was no signs of defilement in the recent time.”

The parents of the girl had reported to the police that their neighbour, Benibo defiled their 7-year-old daughter at 18, Kola ogunmola Street, Ijapo Estate, Akure, where they reside last week Tuesday.

The father of the girl Mr. Rotimi Babadipe reported the alleged incident at the Ijapo police station following which the suspect was picked up.
