We’re Not Afraid of Sack, Wike Can Go to Motor Park and Recruit Lecturers There – UNIABUJA ASUU

Dr. Clement Chup, the ASUU chairman, UniAbuja Chapter, said the union dared the Federal Government to sack its members over the prolonged universities’ strike.

Capture

He said this during a telephone interview with Daily Trust in the afternoon of November 28, 2013, Thursday.

“The school can go ahead and ask students to resume but we won’t do any work; we won’t teach them. It is not our responsibility to resume until ASUU decides.

“We’re not afraid of that (sack). He (Education Minister) can go to the motor park to recruit lecturers that will lecture the students. You can now see the insincerity of some people in government. We told the government when we met that we’re ready to suspend the strike once we’re able to clarify some issues in our agreements with them. But they went ahead without clarifying those issues at stake. We dare them to sack us,” Dr. Clement Chup said.

In would be recalled that the statement signed by the University registrar in the morning of November 28, 2013, Thursday, directed UniAbuja students to resume academic activities from December 1, 2013, Sunday.

  2. Hear who is talking about sincerity! ASUU accusing FG of insincerity when they themselves are guilty of such crime.
It is a pity that coal is calling charcoal black. Mr. Clement and his fellow ASUU members can stay at off lecture halls afterall how many times in a semester do they lecture before.
ASUU is a heartless union i wonder what ASUU wil gain if they finally succeed in frustrating the nigerian students.

  3. Asuu ar foolish, too much of evrytin is bad.. d ar even turnin against each oda, dat is 2 say d ar only concern abt dere self & nt d students.. if una wrk don tire una, dere ar beta gradua8 ready 2take d job & nt outdated lecturers lyk u dat we ar managin (givin us old materials)…Make una go rest sef

  4. @ clement- FG don‘t need 2 to go to motorparks in search of lecturers, bt fresh talented, responsible & qualified ones in d labour mkt wil come seeking 4 d job. Infact some of u ar nt relevant again. Asuu more corrupt than even uniform men. FG don‘t hesitate to sack defulters pls

  5. wike is a big fool..i will personally advice mr president to sack him cos the man is so arrogant and rude,he’s not a good leader. A good leader must be a good listener to the people he/she is govern not dictator like wike..mr president don’t allow hoodulum minister to spoil ur good vision for this country …i imagine how fg will declare the seat of one and only professor in neurosurgeon(unijos) in the whole northern region vacancy, do wike think consultancy(in medicine), professorship are so cheap to get in market??? Is like dis wike doesn’t understand the ground our intellect lecturers(asuu) are standing..somebody should please sit him down and xplain to him

  6. As much as I sympathise with students for staying @home for 5months but I have stayed for 11months during my undergraduate(in OAU- courtesy ASUU strike ), I will not like us to forget that the fight is not all about ASUU alone and has been on for a long time with promises upon promises. No current books in our universities libraries, the structures are all dilapidated, no adequate funding for research, most of the lecture halls are over congested, some of the graduates produced now are not sound intellectually. I can go on and on. I am currently undergoing my Msc in unilag, during a general exam in statistics, some of us sat on the floor. As much as I don’t support the strike I believe fighting for desire achievement is important. Please let us all support ASUU to revive our education.

  7. It is height of disrespect for federal govt to order lecturers to resume as if they are their house boys. We are in democracy and not in military era. The two parties should meet and resolve amicably and stop their empty threat. I don’t blame them since non of their children are in our public universities. One will think Jonathan will favour education since he was once a lecturer. Mscheeew to Wike and shame on Jonathan administration for not putting smiles on nigerian students

  8. Clement u are a fool. There are so many qualified graduate out there with msc, phd that need this job seriously. If u are not ready. U go to d farm. It is not compulsory u must be a lecturer. How can u frustrate the lifes of student for 5 month because of selfish interest. All the vice chancelors does not support this nonsense from asuu members. They are confuse fools. Some of their members do not support the strike.

  9. This is a very laughable situation, does Wike knows what it means to be a Prof?? Or even a Dr? Ooh, you want to sack the entire Uni lecturers in Nig? Is that not stupidity at its height? It will take over 10 years to fill those positions, does the hoodlum know that? And gradually we are stepping into the title of a failed state, no need talking about Mr President, em own matter don tire even the devil. We await Dec 4th to see what Wike and his co-horts are made of.
