Wamakko Confirms He Was Part Of Decision To Defect To APC Despite Absence

Aliyu Wamakko-Gov. Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State on Friday affirmed that he was part and parcel of the decision taken by the New PDP to merge with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Following his absence at the meeting in Kano State where the decision was reached and announced, there were fears Wamakko would distance himself from the decision of his G-7 colleagues to fuse into the APC.

But speaking with journalists in Sokoto shortly after his arrival from a foreign trip in Dakar, Senegal, where he delivered a paper at a forum on Good Governance and Leadership in Africa organised by the African Union (AU) Commission, Wamakko, unlike his Niger and Jigawa State counterparts – Babangida Aliyu and Sule Lamido respectively, confirmed his defection to the APC.

“I was part and parcel of that decision and I was fully involved in taking it.

“The decision was taken before I travelled to Senegal. We held a meeting where the decision was reached,” Wamakko was quoted as saying.
