The Technical Director of Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Federation (NWBF) Obereniene Adoki yesterday assured that Nigeria would win Africa’s ticket for the South Korea 2014 World Cup, at the qualifiers in Angola.

Adoki said in an interview in Lagos that the competition would hold in Luanda from Oct. 22 to Nov. 3.

Nigeria will compete for the ticket with Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, South Africa and Angola.

The official said that the athletes had moved to Ibadan to camp for three weeks to prepare for the competition.

Adoki said that the last seven days of the training would be used to select the team that would represent Nigeria at the competition.

“In Ibadan, we will spend three weeks to get our boys acclimatise to different weather conditions, while the last one week will be for the selection of players,” he said.

He said that the choice of Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan, for the preparation was because of its facilities that could enhance the team’s tactical strategy.

“We just reduced the size of the team so that we can concentrate a little bit more on our strategy and the tactical aspect in the camp.

“In Ibadan, the facilities are very good and will be useful in preparing us for any kind of facilities put in place for the competition in Angola.

“We are happy and confident that we will get the ticket as we have intensified our training and increased our training hours,” he said.

The director said that the camp had been boosted by the arrival of three foreign-based players, including the team’s Captain, Tope Ogunyemi, from Australia.
