Seven suspected members of the Islamist sect – Boko Haram – have been shot dead in a clash with the Police in Gombe State.
The clash took place on Friday and lasted two hours, according to the Gombe Police spokesman, Fwaje Atajiri.
Gombe is one of the few states in the North relatively free of Boko Haram activities and this claim by the police could not be independently verified.
