The 26-year-old, who first signed for the Turkish club in May 2011 and left in July same year without featuring in any of their matches, returns to Istanbul after two seasons with the Russian league leaders.

Fenerbahce says the deal was subject to Emenike passing a medical.

He told BBC Sport that: “When the possibility of coming back was first mentioned, I said to myself ‘I hope both clubs will agree to that.

“Once a deal was agreed, I couldn’t wait to see the fans and city again.

“Right now, I am just delighted to be back. It’s like coming back home.”

When quizzed on the alleged match-fixing allegation case brought before him by Turkish police, Emenike said the episode is long gone in his career insisting that he is more concerned about the “bright future ahead.”

“I just want to thank Fenerbahce officials, fans and everyone for making this (his return) happen and for giving me a warm reception at the airport.

“I want to fulfill a huge dream of playing in front of our passionate fans,” he added.

Before the completion of the move, Emenike scored three goals for Spartak in the new Russian League season, helping the Moscow side seat at the summit of the league table. He will link up with another Nigerian Joseph Yobo at the Turkish giants.
