Jonathan Vows Non-Interferance In Election Of PDP Members Into NWC

A GulakAs various contenders battle to fill the positions left vacant last week by members of the National Working Committee of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), the Presidency has promised not to interfere in the composition of the membership of the NWC.

Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Ali Ahmed Gulak said: “Anointing a group for PDP NWC was preposterous for Mr. President. Scheming is allowed in politics; no one can rule such out. One thing clear, however, is a fact of an impartial leader as far as Mr. President is concerned.”

Speaking further, he said, “I wish people could ignore reports about Mr. President making moves and pocketing PDP NWC; such reports should be ignored and disregarded because as far as he is concerned, anyone who is eligible for any PDP office can do so and aspire and become a member of PDP NWC.

“I can say without a doubt Mr. President believes in equity for all PDP men and women and will harbour no grudge against anyone. I can promise on behalf of Mr. President: due process and rule of law will prevail when we are electing our new NWC in July” Gulak said.
