Everyone has an expiry date, especially those in positions of authority – Archbishop Akinfenwa

edThe Archbishop of the Province of Ibadan and Bishop of Ibadan of the Anglican Communion, Archbishop Joseph Akinfenwa, has good news for Nigerians as this at this year’s Lenten Season commences.

Rekindling the hope that a new thing could come out of the “Nazareth” of Nigeria in a chat with the Nigerian Tribune in Ibadan, on Wednesday, he urged Nigerian leaders and followership to run the race the way the Lord wants them to run it. According to him, “There is a limited time to live on earth and a limited time to rule, especially for those in position of authority and those who feel nobody could call them to account.”

The Bishop therefore urged all in position of authority to serve well as nobody could escape from the court of God, even as he added that judgement and reward would definitely come. While urging leaders to serve and not lord it over the followership, he said that Jesus Christ came to serve as He demonstrated on Maundy Thursday when He washed the feet of His disciples.

“There is hope yet for Nigeria. We are able to sing a new song in this nation. Not long after the call for the centenary celebration, the victory of the Super Eagles was witnessed. We will sing victory song in this nation. Nigeria can be better. Who knew that Lagos and Ibadan could become this clean? Who thought that a qualitative bridge could be built in Ibadan? Nigeria still has dedicated leaders who can spring surprises,” the Cleric noted.
