Allow OBJ To Lead Boko Haram Negotiation – Peter Esele

OBASANJO 1Following his outspoken stance on the dreaded Islamist sect, Boko Haram, President of Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, Mr. Peter Esele, yesterday, called on President Goodluck Jonathan to appoint former President, Olusegun Obasanjo to lead negotiation with the group whose activities have unleashed untold terror on the land.

Obasanjo in a CNN interview on Tuesday, had decried the use of force on the sect and accused the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan of not doing enough to reach out to them. Chief Obasanjo then advocated what he described as a “carrot-and-stick” approach to addressing the problems posed by the sect.

He said, “To deal with a group like that, you need a carrot and stick. The carrot is finding out how to reach out to them. When you try to reach out to them and they are not amenable to being reached out to, then you have to use the stick”.

  1. Actually OBJ is not a coward & he is not scared. Have you forgotten he was in the army, he fought in the Biafran war. He was also the president in the 70’s before retirement and if you go through his track record you will agree he has accomplished more for the unity of Nigeria than Jonathan has accomplished.
