Air Force redeploys chiefs, promotes others

chief_of_air_staffIN a move aimed at greater efficiency, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has redeployed six of its Air Vice Marshals.

In the same vein, the NAF recently promoted seven  Master Warrant Officers to Air Warrant Officers.

In the new postings approved by Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Mohammed Dikko Umar, Air Vice Marshal Alex Sabundu Badeh is the new Air Officer Commanding Training Command, Kaduna. He replaces the late Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Salihu who died on February 15, 2012 during a brief illness.

The other five Air Vice Marshals affected in the posting include Air Vice Marshal Gbolahan Adekunle formerly Chief of Training and Operations at Headquarters Nigerian Air Force now redeployed as Chief of Policy and Plans; Air Vice Marshal Isiyaku Umar, former Director of Operations at Headquarters Nigerian Air Force who is now the Chief of Training and Operations and Air Vice Marshal Aminu Adamu, formerly Director Research and Development, Defence Headquarters is now appointed the Senior Air Staff Officer, Training Command, Kaduna.

The statement released by Air Commodore Yusuf Anas added that Air Vice Marshal Christian Ndubuisi Chukwu, the former Senior Air Staff Officer Training Command Kaduna, becomes the Director of Operations at Headquarters Nigerian Air Force and  Air Vice Marshal James Gbum, former  Commander 75 Strike Group  is now posted to Defence Headquarters as the Director Research and Development.

The newly promoted Air Warrant Officers are: Air Warrant Officer Ngwoke A, Air Warrant Officer Akinyemi K.S. and Air Warrant Officer Alikali I.

Others are Air Warrant Officer Otoide S.E., Air Warrant Officer Gaiya M.F., Air Warrant Officer Babale J.M. and Air Warrant Officer Sokowar J.A.

At a decoration ceremony, the Chief of Air Staff congratulated the officers  on attaining their new ranks while urging them to ensure discipline, loyalty and hardwork by all airmen and airwomen in the Service. The rank of Air Warrant Officer is the highest attainable in the Service by Non-Commissioned Officers.
