Falcons Share the Spoils With Equatorial Guinea in Abuja

Nigeria senior women’s national team played out a 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea on Saturday in a third round African qualifier for the 2016 Olympics Games Women’s Football Tournament.

The Super Falcons were 1-0 up at the break courtesy of Halimat Ayinde’s opening strike, but a lacklustre performance by the hosts in the second half culminated with a leveler after an Equatorial Guinea counter attack.

The match started with a one-minute silence in honour of late Falcons media officer, Gracious Akujobi, who died two days prior to the match played at the Abuja National stadium.

The reverse is slated for Bata on Sunday, 2 August.
