Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has reacted to the statement made by the Minister of Works and Housing and former governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, about Nollywood.

According to Fashola, many of the movies made by Nollywood may be fueling kidnapping and ritual killings as the movies are money ritual based.

Reacting to this, Edochie told Saturday Sun that;

“Sadly at the moment Nigeria is stuck with a crop of leaders who can’t move this country forward, rather they look for who to blame for their inefficiency.

“America has been producing action movies with plenty of gun violence since I was born till date, have you ever seen any American leader blaming entertainers for crime in their country? That’s because it’s all entertainment. It ends there.

“Our government should focus on providing jobs for the youths, spread wealth, improve the economy and security and crime rate will reduce. It’s very simple.

“They should stop looking for who to blame and do the jobs they were voted in to do or resign for others to try.

“Next thing you’ll see them thinking of how to ban Nollywood and render more people jobless.”

  1. Statements of fact, my brother. President Jonathan was changed because, most Nigerians wanted a change, a departure from what was happening then, but not this type of governance riddled in massive corruption, sectionalism, tribalism, nepotism, religious bigotry, jihad, kidnapping, rapping, monumental killing of innocent Christians and citizens, massive unemployment, etc. I can go on and on. This type of governance is not working. Let’s try parliamentary system, as it will be more economically managed and by new and honest people, not those that are bereft of ideas like the ones there now. Thanks.

  2. No mind the fools, instead of them to think of how to move the country forward, they are looking for who to blame for the problem they brought to the country, making of film is just to illustrate what’s happening and see if they can stop money ritual in Nigeria.

  3. Honestly, being a lawyer is not 100% proof for knowing how to differentiate from wrong and right. The minister of works didn’t realize that there government is the worst and wrong people NIGERIA ever experience since Independence, even Abacha regime was better this 2015 to 2020 Adminstration. This administration had made Nigeria a fail state and many learned people like fashola didn’t see this to correct in their government, rather he came publicly to criticize Nollywood movies! It is their ungodly Adminstration that is fueling crime in Nigeria, not the Nollywood movies.
