Shehu Sani Reacts As Kano Govt Bans Street Begging

Following the ban placed on street beggars by Kano state government, former lawmaker, Shehu Sani has stated that government would only disperse them for a while but the factor that is making them beg would return them in no time.

This was contained in a tweet he sent out via his official Twitter handle in reaction to the ban.

“A Law no matter how punitive can’t stop or end begging. Many states tried it in the last twenty years, it never worked. The Economic, Social, Religious and Cultural contributing factors must be addressed. A law enforced can disperse them for a while and the factors will return them.”
