Supports of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have taken to the street in Bayelsa state to protest the supreme court judgment which sacked David Lyon.
The party’s elected governorship candidate, who was due to be sworn in on Friday was on Thursday sacked by the Supreme court on the grounds that his running mate forged his credentials.
The apex court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue the certificate of return to the candidate with the second highest number of votes and with the required geographical spread in the state.
Diri Duoye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared the governor elect of the state by the electoral commission.
The development has led to protest by member of the APC, who took major roads in Yenagoa with placards, demanding that Lyon be reinstated.
