According to reports, University workers have begun mobilisation for a possible industrial action over the non implementation of the new national minimum wage.
Recall that the President directed that the new minimum wage be implemented by December 31, 2019.
However, according to the reports, University workers are planning on embarking on industrial action over the new minimum wage because other parastatals of government have been paid the minimum wage.
Confirming the news to reporters, the President of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities, Comrade Samson Ugokwe, attributed the non-implementation to the enrollment of university workers in the IPPIS scheme.
President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi couldn’t been reached as at the time of filing in this report.
