Bauchi Politicians Hold Prayer Session Ahead Of S’Court Judgement

Some politicians in Bauchi state ahead of the supreme court judgement of Monday are said to have begun prayer sessions in the mosque.

The Supreme Court will on Monday rule on the the appeal filed by Mohammed Abubakar of the All Progressives Congress (APC), challenging the victory of Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 governorship election in the state.

Mohammed’s election was upheld both at the tribunal and the appeal court.

According to NAN, there is anxiety among the politicians and residents of the state as regards Monday’s ruling.

Uba Nana, APC chairman in the state, said his party had embarked on a prayer session ahead of the verdict.

“We are reserving our comments until after the verdict on Monday; we have nothing much to say but I can tell you that we are very prayerful now,” the party chairman said.

“We are in prayers and hoping for a successful outcome at the Supreme Court on Monday.”

AYayanuwa Zainabari, publicity secretary of the PDP in the state, said his party had “absolute trust” in the supreme court.

“As it is now, the judiciary is the only hope of upholding the mandate given to Gov. Bala Mohammad by the people of Bauchi state,” Zainabari said.

“We have trust that the court would do justice in delivering its judgement; we have no fear at all and just as we won the election without rigging, by God’s grace, we will have course to celebrate.”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the killing of peaceful #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate, Lagos.

This was contained in a statement titled “EndSARS- Lekki Massacre,” signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, late on Tuesday.

Ologbodiyan said, “The Peoples Democratic Party, condemns in very strong terms, the killing of peaceful protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos as well as other parts of our country.

“It is shocking that security agents and, in some cases, thugs, were reportedly deployed to end the lives of promising Nigerians. This, to say the least, is saddening.

“The PDP calls on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately direct an end to these wanton killings across our nation.

The Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello has declared his intention to lead the #EndSARS protest against police brutality ongoing nationwide.

He stated this during an interview with Africa Independent Television AIT on Monday night.

Bello called on his fellow state governors to tack charge in their respective states so as to prevent loss of lives and properties due to attacks by hoodlums.

He, however, warned Nigerian youths to resist the temptation of using the current situation in the country to seek an undemocratic change in leadership.
