OPC Condemns Sowore’s Continued Detention, Blasts FG

The Oodua Peoples Congress has condemned the Federal Government over the continued detention of Convener of RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore.

In a statement by the Publicity Secretary of the group, Yinka Oguntimehin, on Monday, it described Sowore’s continued detention and government’s refusal to obey court order as lawlessness.

The statement reads, “It is obvious that the Nigerian Government is playing politics with Sowore’s detention.
“Where on earth does a democratically elected president flouts the law and refuses court orders?

“The Nigerian Government is treating the judiciary with contempt and it is sad.

“With democracy under President Muhammadu Buhari, the number of government detainees are growing by the day.

“Before the new judgment, there had been an existing court order for his release yet the government didn’t blink an eye on the issue and Nigerians have been reacting because the situation is affecting the image of the country in the international community.

“We cannot continue to fold our arms and behave as if nothing is wrong. If the government continue this way, that means we are heading towards becoming a lawless nation and that portends grave danger for this nation.

“With the new ruling, it is obvious that the government is using the institution and the paraphernalia of office of the presidency to suppress human rights and cow oppositions. The world is watching.”

This comes after Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, in a Monday ruling ordered that Soworeand one other be remanded in DSS custody until Friday, October 4 for his bail hearing.

    Are we seeing a funny way of ruling a society in an ugly manners for the first time in Nigeria ? How could they have the knowledge to rule better? we practiced an educational system known as QUOTA. Results of it is exactly what we are being rewarded,. unintelligent way of rulings. Blaming the power that be is a share waste of time for the people in Nigeria are not yet fed up, when we are we shall break the walls in our houses to hide inside OR refused to break it to do something else,,,,,few words is enough.

Civil Rights activist and former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial district, Shehu Sani has mocked the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration plan to lift Nigerians out of poverty.

Recall that President Buhari administration has constantly reiterated plans to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in 10 years.

However, the last few days have seen Nigerians discover warehouses where COVID-19 palliatives are stored by state governments which have led to the raiding of the warehouses by Nigerians.

Reacting to the development, the former lawmaker described the move to be the consequence of Nigerians being tired of having to wait for 10 years to be lifted out of poverty.

Nigerians have expressed their distaste for the tweet posted by Festus Keyamo over the #EndSARS protests that has led to lives and property being destroyed by hoodlums.

The Minister of State, Labour & Employment took to his Twitter page on Friday morning to post a tweet that reads thus:

“This morning, I woke up and remembered the African proverb: WHAT AN OLD MAN CAN SEE SITTING DOWN, A YOUNG MAN CAN’T SEE EVEN IF HE CLIMBS THE HIGHEST IROKO TREE. Good morning, Lagos. Good morning, Nigeria.”

A Twitter user identified as Adesina Oluwafemi berates the SAN for being a part of bad governance. “Mr. Keyamo. I am astonished at your statement. All these is because of bad governance which u are a part of“, he wrote.

Nigerians React To Defence Spokesperson's Statement That Videos Of Lekki Shooting Were Photoshopped

Nigerians have reacted to the video of Nigeria’s defence spokesman, John Eneche, saying that the videos of the Lekki Tollgate shooting were photoshopped. In the video, he said it was analysed and the analyst concluded that they were all doctored.

His statement has generated reactions from Nigerians. Taking to Twitter, many Nigerian users on the micro-blogging platform have dismissed his statement as false because it is impossible to photoshop a live video on Instagram.

Information Nigeria recalls DJ Switch was hailed by Nigerians for her bravery as she waited at the scene of the incident to give everyone a live footage via her Instagram page.
