The Inspector-General of Police(IGP), Adamu Mohammed has assured Nigerians of a safe and secure atmosphere during and after the Eid-el-Kabir festival. This was made known by the IGP in a statement on Friday, adding that all Assistant Inspector General of Police and Commissioners of police have been directed to deploy personnel to public places like malls, recreational centres, worship centres among others.

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation has reacted to the arrest of Uyi Giwa-Osagie, Atiku Abubakar’s lawyer and his son-in-law, Abdullahi. In his reaction, the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) chieftain said President Muhammadu Buhari must be rare, adding that jailing the duo changes nothing. Speaking via his Twitter handle on Friday, Fani-Kayode said that, even if the president jails every single Nigerian, and no one is left on the street, the stones will rise up to oppose him.

Like every normal vehicle, Lion Ozumba 551 runs on four wheels when fully charged, and can be driven for up to 60 minutes at the top level campus speed of 30km per hour.
Wife of Ondo State Governor, Betty Akeredolu, has gotten the services of Taekwondo professionals to train young girls in the state on the art of self-defense against rapists. Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan has raised allegations that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) have arrested Atiku Abubakar‘s lawyer, Uyi Giwa-Osagie to teach him a lesson. The former presidential aide said this via his Twitter handle on Friday, adding that former vice president’s counsel was arrested alongside his son-in-law, Abdullahi.
Abuja-Kaduna highway is currently on lockdown as commercial drivers protest the killing of their colleague by policemen. Protesting commercial drivers blocked the road with their vehicles, and according to them, the deceased was killed by a police officers close to Olam Chicken Feed Company while en route Kaduna in the early hours of Friday. Speaking on the matter, Samuel Aruwan, the state commissioner for internal security, said efforts are being made to clear the gridlock.
Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide has also reacted to the killing of three police officers by army officers in Taraba state. The army in its statement said it’s officers mistook the deceased police officers for kidnappers, while the police have maintained that it’s personnel were intentionally killed by the soldiers. The police have continued to lament that the deceased officers were one of its best, and had been involved with operations that led to the arrest of many high profile criminals including ‘Evans’, the billionaire kidnappers.
Nigerians have taken to Twitter to react to the ongoing back and forth between the Nigerian police and Army after some personnel of the latter opened fire and killed some personnel of the former in Taraba state. The army in its response had said its officers mistook the deceased police officers for kidnappers while the police have accused the Army of deliberating killing its personnel and freeing a high profile criminal.
The Igbo apex socio-cultural group, Ohaneze Ndigbo, has called for the release of publisher of SaharaReporters Omoyele Sowore, arrested and detained by the Department of State Services last Saturday. Sowore is the main organiser of the #RevolutionNow protest which was scheduled to hold on August 5 nationwide.
