Beninese Cook Steals Politician’s N7.9m In Abuja

A Beninese cook, Samuel Tchiki, has been arrested by the police command in Abuja.

According to reports, Samuel was arrested alongside his accomplices for stealing a politician’s $22,000 in Abuja.

Samuel reportedly stole the money from the safe it was kept before embarking on a shopping spree with the money.

The other suspects arrested include Francis Kpohouede, George Akinto, Donald Tokpe, Honore Tokpe and Emmanuel Savi.

Information Nigeria gathered that $13,000 was recovered from them after they had gone out to buy television sets, sound systems, generators and other domestic appliances with stolen money.

Samuel, according to reports, has been living in Nigeria since 2008 and only recently moved to Abuja from Cross River State due to the poor salary he was being paid.

Speaking with some reporters, Samuel said he got his friends to steal the safe after his boss, Casmir Anyanwu, traveled out of town.

They took the safe to Mpape where they found $22,000. The shared the money amongst themselves.

Reacting, FCT Police Commissioner, Bala Ciroma, advised Nigerians to do a thorough background check on their domestic workers before employing them.
