Nigerians have expressed dissatisfaction with the comment of Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of  Nigerians in Diaspora Commission on the trending assault story of Senator Elisha Abbo.

Dabiri, while reacting to footage of the Adamawa North, lawmaker, Abbo, repeatedly slapping a nursing mother in a sex toy shop in Abuja, ‘politicised’ it by classifying him along party lines. She described him as a  Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) ‘guy’, adding that the footage is enough evidence for him to go to prison.

She said: “To think that this PDP guy was said to have defeated one of our most respected female parliamentarians, Senator Binta Masi Garba. The Senate must not protect him. He should be charged. The footage is enough evidence. He deserves to be in Prison.”

This comment has sparked outrage among Nigerians who said Abike and other All Progressives Congress(APC) members kept mute when a video of Umar Ganduje, the Kano State governor, allegedly collecting bribe from contractors emerged.

Taking to social media, they said that if Abbo deserves to go to prison for assaulting the woman, then Ganduje should also be in prison for taking kickbacks from contractors.
