Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai is currently in search of a 13-year-old Almijiri child who has taken to shining shoes rather than begging.

A Twitter user, Muhd El Bonga Ibrahim had shared via the platform the case of Usman, who he says is from Maiduguri and has taken to shoe shining and repairing because he doesn’t want to beg for alms.

Ibrahim wrote: This 13-year-old Usman, an Almajiri boy from Maiduguri. Because he doesn’t like to beg, he learnt how to shine and repair shoes from his brother where he earns an average of N500 a day. When I asked him about school, he said: “even if I want to school, no one will sponsor me.”

The Kaduna state governor has been touched by the boy’s story and says he is willing to see the boy through school, asking that the young lad be brought to him.

Where is this industrious boy? How old is he? Kindly bring him to me in Kaduna. I will sponsor him to attend a boarding primary school and upon completion until he graduates from the university by the Grace of God. @Dattijo @el_bonga https://t.co/F4RMGWTx9s
