President Muhammadu Buhari has shared that the presumed winner of the 1993 June 12 Presidential election, M.K.O Abiola, would have prevented religious and tribal issues ravaging the country if he had gotten his mandate.

Speaking while receiving political delegates from Ogun state, the home town of the late business mogul and politician, Buhari said Abiola wanted nothing but a solid Nigeria and nothing else.

“If MKO Abiola was allowed to rule, the religious and tribal issues now in Nigeria would not have been as strong because he ran on a Muslim-Muslim ticket, chose his deputy from Kanuri, a minority tribe, and because of his personality, he went across Nigeria and was accepted.

“He used his resources and energy to convince Nigerians that all he wanted was a solid Nigeria and nothing else.”
