Colombian football star Leidy Asprilla, found dead several days after she went missing

A Colombian footballer star, Leidy Asprilla has been found dead, days after she went missing.

According to a police report, Asprilla who is a striker for her team was found dead on Wednesday on a road in Valle del Cauca region in southwestern Colombia.

The 22-year-old was one of the players for Colombia at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016.  Asprilla also played for the club Orsomarso, based in the Valle del Cauca city of Palmira.

Asprilla’s family had reported her missing after she left her home in the village of El Cerrito on Sunday to pick up a friend for a training session.

Her cause of death is still unknown, although police confirmed that there were “no signs of violence”.

Eduard Alfonso Garcia, Secretary of Government, while speaking on the sad incident said: “It is seen that there is breaking of the motorcycle and falls to the left side of the road.”

He added that the very bushy area made it even more difficult to find her body.
