The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in statement on August 27th, said ‘the reports quoting the United States President, Donald Trump, describing President Muhammadu Buhari as “lifeless” has opened our nation to international ridicule and opprobrium.’
In the statement, the opposition party said Trump’s remark underscores the result that accompanies move by incompetent leader to seek international endorsement out of inferiority complex.
‘This embarrassment is a backlash a nation gets when incompetent leaders, out of inferiority complex and misgovernance, resort to jumping around the world, desperately shopping for endorsements from world leaders.
The PDP therefore asked president Buhari to take a cue from what was said about him by Trump and deliver his duties as president or accept that he has failed. They wrote:
We therefore charge Mr. President to take a cue from the comments ascribed to President Trump by settling down at home and discharge his responsibilities to Nigerians or humbly accept his failings.
The PDP also expressed worry as to how other world leaders view president Buhari, whom they claim has failed woefully.
The PDP and indeed all well-meaning Nigerians are now sore worry over how other world leaders have been perceiving our President, who has not only failed in governance but has continued to demarket our nation in the international community.@MBuhari @OfficialAPCNg

Nigerians have expressed displeasure as to PDP’s stand in the matter. Many were of the view that the opposition party shouldn’t be celebrating an insult to Nigeria’s president. According to them, an insult to the president, is an insult to all Nigerians.
See reactions below
If all you can do as an opposition in reaction to this insult on us as a people is to politisize rather than condemn it , it shows that there is no reasonable person left in the partu any longer and Nigerians should take you up for that.

This is a foreign president talking about your country’s president in a bad light. No matter how true it is, you should actually ridicule that President. Our unity as a nation should COME FIRST!!! It’s rather unfortunate that we are the ones bringing on the misery on ourselves.

When @realDonaldTrump called AFRICA shithole, he doesn’t know how to talk, when he calls @MBuhari lifeless, he knows how to talk. Smh… PDP go sleep!!! If you had prioritized national interest, you should be frowning at Trump not otherwise. Or better still just keep mute.

And yet another opportunistic party, feeding off from @MBuhari . It is clear @OfficialPDPNig have no clear plan for Nigeria other than staying in the shadows waiting for any opportunity to criticize the President.
