A Facebook user identified as Kingpin Eshiet, has taken to the social networking platform to share some photos of him and a friend slaughtering a giant sea turtle to make a meal.
According to Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), Sea Turtles can be found along the Nigerian coastline. Leatherback Turtles for instance, is one of the five species of sea turtles that can be found in Nigerian coastline.
With a lifespan of about 30 years in the wild they are currently threatened by marine pollution, poaching and harvest of eggs along beaches.
However, Sea Turtles are endangered species wherever it is found, and part of the measures to enhance its conservation and protection is to rescue it from captivity.
