An eyewitness has narrated how herdsmen invaded Kadarko community in Keana Local Council of Nasarawa State leaving five persons missing and seven others dead.

The incident happened on Tuesday night while the villagers were sleeping. Several homes were razed down and many others injured in the incident.

Narrating how the incident happened, a relative of one of the missing persons, Mr. Justine Wombu, said that his elder brother Felix Wombu had not returned since Tuesday night.

He also said that about five people are still missing since the incident. According to him, the herdsmen had attacked the community slaughtering many people, but unknown to them, the armed herdsmen still lurked around to finish off those that had escaped.

He said, “My brother and other members of the community decided to go back to our village Agbara to carry some items and were attacked by unknown gunmen.

“Unknown to them that the attackers were still lurking around, they pounced on them with guns when they were about entering our village,” he added.

He, however, disclosed that five out of the ten people who went to the village escaped, and the other five people have not been seen since Tuesday evening.

According to him, security men deployed in Kadarko had combed all the nearby villages all to no avail.

The families of the missing persons, who are currently taking refuge in Agyaragu town in Obi Local Government Area of the state have been in tears and anguish since the other five returned.

But, when Punch contacted him on the telephone, the Police Public Relation Officer, Nasarawa State Command, DSP Kennedy John, said that the command had yet to receive the report of the missing persons, adding that investigation into the attack on Kadarko town by the unknown gunmen was ongoing.

He appealed to all warring communities to lay down their swards and give peace a chance.
