A truck driver crushed to death a roadside mechanic and a 7-year-old boy at Oke Ore, along Sango-Ota-Owode Expressway, around 11am
on Tuesday.
According to reports, the driver of the truck, which was travelling towards Owode lost control of the vehicle and ran over the victims.
The mechanic was said to have died instantly while the 7-year-old boy died in the hospital where he was rushed to after the incident.
The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the corpse of the mechanic had been claimed by his relatives.
He said the driver of the truck had been arrested by the men of the Nigeria police, Owode Divisional Headquarters.
He said, “We learnt the 7-year-old boy was with the mechanic by the roadside when the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle while speeding, and crushed the two of them.
“Our personnel said the relatives of the mechanic had claimed his corpse, while the driver of the truck is still with the police at Owode.”
