Ooni of Ife donates generators, other things to IDPs in Abuja

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, donated two generators, drugs, school bags and notebooks to the Internally Displaced Persons camp in Wassa, Abuja.

The donation was made on behalf of the monarch by a non-governmental organisation, Hopes Alive Initiative, at the camp on Tuesday.

Presenting the items to the IDPs camp leader, Geoffrey Bitrus, the HAI Deputy Chief Convener, Temitope Adesegun, stated that Ogunwusi was concerned about the plight of the camp inhabitants, who, she said, lacked access to potable water and drugs.

She explained that the monarch procured the generators to power the borehole in the camp and the clinic, adding that the notebooks and school bags were meant to assist the children in their education.

Adesegun disclosed that Ogunwusi had made provision for the fueling and maintenance of the two generators “so that the displaced persons could continue to have water round the clock.”

She said, “The Ooni of Ife, as a philanthropist, was moved by the plight of the IDPs in Wassa camp and decided to address the challenges they are facing in terms of water and drugs.”

Bitrus, in his response, commended the Ooni for the donation, which, he said, would greatly alleviate the suffering of the camp occupants.

In the same vein, another group, Project MX, donated items worth N500,000 to Minna orphanage home.

The leader of the group, Faith Adama, said the donation was meant to show love to the orphans and other vulnerable individuals in the home.
