NSCDC deploys 3,000 officers to PDP convention

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 3,000 personnel including undercover operatives for today’s national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ).

The corps spokesperson, Emma Okeh, told our correspondent on Friday that adequate security arrangements had been put in place to ensure a hitch-free convention at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

He explained that other specialised units, including sniffer dogs, were also part of the security team for the programme.

“Our personnel are already on the ground for the convention. We have deployed 3,000 officers including our intelligence and undercover operatives,” Okeh stated.

The police also disclosed that their men had been posted within and outside the convention ground, warning individuals without any business at the Eagle Square to stay away.

The Federal Capital Territory police spokesperson, Anjuguri Manzah, warned that the police would not tolerate any acts that could cause trouble at the convention.

“The officers deployed have been briefed to effectively carry out their duties at the convention and they have been instructed to act against any act of lawlessness during the programme,” he stated.
