Edo University produces 11 first class students

The Samuel Adegboyega University, Ogwa, Edo State, produced eleven first class students, in its third convocation ceremony, the Vice-chancellor, Professor Bernard Agbo Kan expressed confidence that graduates of the institution can make meaningful contributions to the development of the society.

Also, 65 graduating students received second class degrees, while 13 were referred by the management of the university.

The vice-chancellor said that the institution, owned by the Apostolic Church, Nigeria, had taken advantage of its young existence and its small population to provide qualitative and uninterrupted education.

“Perhaps, our greatest accomplishment as of today is that after six years of uninterrupted and crisis-free academic calendar, we are releasing our third set of graduates into the larger society. Although they are very few, like the small mustard seed, we are confident that they shall blossom.

“We are proud to say that they have been taken through the drill, taking advantage of the economics of small size, and our external examiners who are all acclaimed academics have validated the quality of their performance,” Aigbokhan said.

While commending the management of the university and the church for their support, he said that the institution was open to financial collaborations with corporate organisations and individuals.

In his remark, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Bisi Ogunjobi, urged the graduating students to make good use of opportunities provided by the Federal Government to fund entrepreneurial ideas.

Ogunjobi added, “This graduation ceremony represents the culmination of three to four years of diligence and hard work, self-denial and, sometimes, punctuated stress and anxiety in a student’s life on campus. It takes dedication, perseverance and abiding faith to have come this far.”
