One Africa Music Fest Dubai: Sarkodie Refuses To Perform After Being ‘Disrespected’ By Wizkid And Davido

Published

on

The Dubai leg of the 2017 One Africa Music Fest tour held last night and had an array of African stars on stage.

However, Sarkodie who is reputed to be one of the most successful hip-hop artistes on the continent was said to have refused to perform after feeling slighted by Nigeria’s pop stars.

Per Ghana’s NYDJLive, Sak was billed to perform after Tiwa Savage but before her set could finish, Wizkid had joined her onstage and segued into his own performance. The Ghanaian rapper was placated and promised that he would go on after Tekno. Again, Tekno’s performance ended with Davido joining him too entrance; leaving Sarkodie stranded for the second time.

It was at this point that Ghana’s finest decided he was no longer going to perform.

This is not the first time an artiste would be disponitedat One Africa Music Fest: at the London stop in May, Nigeria-American rapper was kept waiting while the Nigerian contingent took too much time and eventually couldn’t perform.

Sarkodie hasn’t said much beyond the tweet and it is unclear if he would go on a rant similar to his countryman Shatta Wale, who in recent days has been throwing shots at the Nigerian music industry.
