Despite His Claims, Police Insist Burna Boy is Still on the Run

Hours after Burna Boy took to Twitter to share his label’s official statement regarding allegations that he ordered the robbery attack on Mr 2Kay, the Lagos State Police command affirmed that he is yet to visit the station and may be on the run.

Posting on his Twitter yesterday, the Don Gorgon singer claimed that he received an invitation on November 20 and paid the police a visit. He went on to add that he is working with the officers in their investigation while adding that he did not mastermind the robbery attack on his rival.

The statement said:

The first and only invitation Burna Boy has ever received from the police was issued yesterday November 20th, 2017. This invitation was honored yesterday November 20th, 2017 and it has been made clear that he is happy to cooperate with the police as best as he can. It is pertinent to note that he was never served an arrest warrant nor has he been declared wanted.”

However, LIB exclusively reports that the Lagos State Police spokesperson, Olarinde Famous-Cole, said the singer never showed up at the command, that it was his father, Samuel Ogulu, who came in his stead yesterday, November 21.

Here’s what LIB said:

“It was only Burna Boy’s father, Samuel Ogulu, that came to the station yesterday after the press conference with claims that he, Burna Boy, is not in the country and that as soon as he arrives Nigeria, he would come to the command’s headquarters. Olarinde, however, says that the state police command believes that Burna Boy is currently on the run and that they do not believe his father’s claim that he is out of the country.”

See Burna Boy’s official statement, issued yesterday:

Recall that it all began when Mr 2Kay was robbed and viciously attacked in his Eko Hotel room in October by men he mistook for room services.

Police investigation traced one of the men to Kaduna and he turned out to be Burna Boy’s road manager, who in turn revealed that the singer paid the assailants N100,000 to carry out the attack on Mr 2Kay following their brief feud over Nigerian preachers.

We can’t wait to see how this messy drama plays out.
