Delta Monarch’s Palace Gutted By Fire

Media reports have it that a serious inferno has hit the house of a traditional ruler in the Niger Delta part of Nigeria.
Reports reaching DAILY POST says property worth several millions of Naira have been destroyed as fire engulfed the inner room of the Dein of Agbor Kingdom.
It was gathered that vital documents were also destroyed. The cause of the fire has not been ascertained at the time of filing this report, but Community Source who craved anonymity told a reporter that unknown persons allegedly set the palace on fire due to the King’s absence from the throne recently.
The Source claimed that the masterminds stole valuable items at the King’s palace before burning same.
“I think the fire was put up by some group of people who were aggrieved that the king has been absent from the throne. I think they came into the palace to steal and after that, they set up the fire. The fire has destroyed the Dein’s vital documents and property”.
The Source added, “We saw the fire inside the king’s inner room, but we cannot enter the inner room of the king for any reason not even to put out the fire. Even fire fighters can not enter there”
The Special Assistant to the Monarch could not be reached for comments at the time of this report.
Contacted, the Delta State Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka confirmed the report saying,”What we heard is that there was fire outbreak at the palace of the Dein of Agbor. I cannot say if it is a case of arson but there was fire. If it is reported to us, we will have to investigate to know if there is foul play.”
