Lovers of the Calabar Carnival will experience a new thing at this year’s edition as a competition tagged the Face of Idiye will be staged.
It is the initiative of Okhma Global, a marketing and communication firm, and consultant to the Carnival Calabar and Festivals and the Cross Rivers State Government.
Okhma is also working in partnership with the Calabar Carnival Commission on Face of Idiye.
The organisers say in a statement, Face of Ediye is the new Carnival Icon. Ediye means beautiful in Efik and the show is a celebration of tradition and culture. It is a project that aims at showcasing the natural beauty and heritage of our women – showcasing all things beautiful in Africa. To this effect, there is an online beauty campaign of sophistication accessible to women between the ages of 18 and 30. Interested applicants can visit www.faceofediye.com to apply.
