All is now set for the ARTru Concert 2017, in which artistes in several genres are collaborating for the purpose of education and entertainment.
The programme holding on November 11, at Shodex Gardens, Anthony, Lagos, will have as the guest of honour, Mr. Hyginus Omeje, the Sector Commander, FRSC, Lagos State Command. The project, organised by Brother Art Productions, is in partnership with the command. It will feature visual art, music, comedy dance and drama.
Noting that last year’s event was held at Glover Memorial Hall, Marina, Lagos, the Producer and Director of the project, Nkang Ini Dan, said, “We were able to use the ARTru platform to publicly celebrate the Nigerian visual artists and some stakeholders. Popular collector and art patron, Prince Yemisi Shyllon, was listed as one of “The Distinguished Art Patrons of The Year 2016.”
He added that this year’s edition was being packaged to achieve the group’s resolve to keep promoting the arts in Nigeria, while projecting the relationship between the visual and performing arts.
He noted, “The theme for ARTru2017 is, Think Safety. It was selected as a part of our contributions to informing the public on the need to be safety conscious at all times and places as to reduce to the barest minimum the rate of domestic, road, and industrial accidents in the country.
“It is widely known that all the FRSC’s signs and symbols are graphic illustrations. So, they are artworks, too. This shows how deep the relationship between the FRSC and the visual artists is or should be. This is a fact that many people don’t either know or realise. So, the whole idea of having the FRSC as a major partner in ARTru2017 is as a result of theme of the year: ‘Think Safety.”
