Buhari: Charlyboy reacts to constitutional interpretation of president’s ill-health

Ace musician and activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charlyboy, has countered claims that the constitution is silent on when President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to return and resume his duties.

AreaFada, as he is also called said the constitution prescribes the setting up of a panel to investigate the health status of the President.

The maverick singer says the constitution states that if the panel feels the President is incapacitated due to ill-health, he must be made to resign.

Responding to a question by DAILY POST correspondent in an exclusive chat, Charlyboy said, “Don’t listen to what somebody says, have you gone to check the constitution?

“Don’t wait for somebody to tell you A or B, go and read that constitution well, somewhere in the constitution,Section 114 says if the President is incapacitated, a medical panel will be set up to ascertain his health.

“If the panel feels the president is incapacitated to the point where he can’t function in his role, then he must resign. Go and read that part, they will only tell you one part but will not tell you the other.”

Charlyboy’s assertion follows claim by activist lawyer, Femi Falana, who disclosed that the Nigerian constitution has no time limit as to when Buhari is expected to return and resume his duties.
