Nigerian Senator forges retirement letter ( Read full story )

Chairman Senate Committee on Navy, Senator Isah Misau, has been invited by the to appear before its Special Panel investigating allegations of special promotions in the Nigeria Police Force.

The Nigeria Police Force on August 27, declared Misau a deserter and accused him of carrying a forged retirement letter.

Senator Misau had, in series of interviews with newsmen, accused the Inspector General of Police of taking bribe to post police officers as well as diverting money paid by private companies for police duties.

The Head, Press and Public Relations of the commission, Ikechukwu Ani, announced n a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, that the invitation letter was signed by the Chairman of the Special Panel , retired Justice O. Adekeye.

He said that the immediate issue for investigation was the genuineness or otherwise of the two letters of retirement supposed to have emanated from the commission.

He said that the commission received correspondence from the Nigeria Police Force Special Investigation Panel (SIP)on Aug. 24 relating to Misau’s retirement from the Nigeria Police Force.

“The Police Service Commission, the only organ saddled with the statutory responsibility of issuing letters of retirement to all Police Officers except the IGP, has a vital role to play in determining the authenticity of this letter,” he said.

He said Misau was to appear before the panel with the original copy of his letter of retirement for authentication.

The senator is expected to appear before the panel on Sept 6.

Lagos Govt Relaxes Curfew From 10pm To 6am

The Lagos State Government has announced a further relaxation of the curfew imposed after the hijack of the peaceful #EndSARS protests.

Lagos State information commissioner Gbenga Omotosho announced the new decision on Friday.

He said the curfew will now be from 10:00 pm till 6:00 am.

“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu praises Lagosians for observing the curfew, which is expected to restore normalcy in our communities,” Omotosho said.

The statement read, “The Lagos State Government has announced a further relaxation of the curfew imposed after the breakdown of law and order, following the hijack of the peaceful #EndSARS protests.

“The curfew will now be from 10 pm till 6 am.

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed group, Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike of ordering police and soldiers to kill members of the group.

Recall that Wike had signed an executive order to reinforce the total ban on IPOB and its activities in Rivers State.

Reacting in a tweet on Friday, Kanu accused the Governor of sponsoring state security to execute IPOB members.

Buhari Approves Emaimo’s Re-Appointment

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reappointment of Dr. John Emaimo, as Rector, Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy, Enugu State.

The appointment was made known in a letter signed by the Minister of State for Health, Olorunnimbe Mamora on behalf of President Buhari.

Dr. Emaimo’s re-appointment takes effect from Nov. 27, 2020.

Speaking on the re-appointment, Mamora stated that Emaimo was found eligible for a second term based on his assessment.
