Meningitis Outbreak: Don’t rely on anointing oil, holy water – Gay activist, Bisi Alimi

Following the recent outbreak of Cerebrospinal Meningitis, CSM, in some parts of Nigeria, Nigerian Gay activist, Bisi Alimi has called on Nigerians not to depend on anointing oil and holy water to prevent Meningitis but get vaccinated.

According to him, once you start noticing signs of fever and headache rush to the hospital and seek medical care before it becomes worse.
He said, “It is important for people to know how deadly meningitis is.

“If you are feeling any of signs like fever, headache Anointing oil does not stop you from contacting Meningitis.

“Please this public announcement is for Nigerians and the outbreak of meningitis.

“The fundamental way to prevent meningitis is to be vaccinated.
“Please don’t believe what anyone is saying about anointing oil and holy water. It does not stop you from the disease.

“Vaccine is the only way to be cured and protected.

“Please get everyone in your household vaccinated as soon as possible. Thank you.”

Bacterial meningitis is an infection of the meninges, the thin covering of the brain and spinal cord.
According to experts, Symptoms of the disease include stiff neck, high fever, rash, headache, vomiting, and confusion.

The Federal Ministry of Health has recorded about 328 deaths so far.
