Imo Spends N7 Billion On International Cargo Airport

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha said in Owerri yesterday that government has spent N7 billion on the building of the International Cargo Airport in the state

Briefing journalists at his private home in Owerri, Okorocha said government undertook the construction of the cargo airport to enable the work to move on, adding that the state would thereafter demand a refund from the Federal Government.

He disclosed that the state government would disburse N1 billion to the oil bearing communities for the rehabilitation of schools in the Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta Local Council areas to restore equity, peace and harmony in view of the Amnesty Committee chaired by his wife, Nkechi.

He pointed out that the three command schools and institutions of the armed forces have been approved by the Federal Government and would be sited in Okigwe, Orlu and Owerri zones.

Okorocha added that the state government donated hospitals to the armed forces, while 30 special vehicles fitted with security gadgets named ‘Rapid Response’ to tackle security challenges would soon be released to the security operatives in the state.
