Theled National Caretaker Committee debunked news associating him with the formation of Advanced People’s Democratic Party,he said he will not abandon the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in spite of the Court of Appeal ruling in Port Harcourt.
Reacting to this development, Sheriff yesterday said that he will not expel Makarfi and his group from the party, but integrate them to move the party forward.
This is even as some members of the party have expressed fear over the reconciliation exercise being pushed by some stakeholders in the party.
Makarfi’s Committee, in a statement by its Spokesman, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, distanced themselves from the purported planned registration of a new party called Advanced Peoples Democratic Party (APDP).
The group said that it presently enjoys the support of all the organs of the party, adding that it believes that Supreme Court will do justice to the the crisis rocking the party.
According to the Makarfi’s Committee, “The National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) wishes to deny in its entirety, the news item which went viral last Thursday that the Committee or any of its members as individuals, are leading a plan to abandon the party structure for the Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff led group, and seek registration of a new party to be called Advanced Peoples Democratic Party (APDP).
“We state clearly and without ambiguity that the National Caretaker Committee of the PDP is not in any way involved in the plans to register any party by the name APDP or any other party for that matter.
